Harry was the runt. His breeder had initially decided to keep him in the hope that he’d eventually make a good stud. But then Harry stopped growing. 46lb is actually not so bad for a male Vizsla, just not enough to comply with AKC standards. A dog rescue coordinator in New England steered me towards rural Pennsylvania where I picked him up on September 11, 2010. Adopting him has been one of the best decisions of my adult life [please don’t ask me about my brilliant choices as a boy]. He’s a senior citizen by now. But we’ve talked about the trip, and he made it clear to me that he wanted to be part of the adventure. I’m glad he said yes.
